The transformation of the Process Technology Hall on Campus Drienerlo of the University of Twente into a new address for the Faculty of Health (Technical Medicine, Health Sciences and Biomedical Sciences together), now in progress, already has a nickname: the Glass Cathedral. And some nicknames fit: the existing building (from OD205 in 1975) regains its main quality; that of a transparent work building with generous spatiality, made suitable for the 21-century way of educating and researching. At a prominent location on the O&O-square, in the heart of the Campus, outward-looking as a public building and as an interior, flexible but accurately designed as an appropriate address for this successful group faculty. The steel and glass, prefabrication and building technology as iconic idiom; here, too, it is being used again what was considered intelligent architecture in the seventies.
